Puget Sound Energy launches contest to invest $45K in four small local businesses

Across Washington, small businesses have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. These businesses are the backbone of local communities, and their owners are fighting every day to keep their doors open. With many small businesses operating on razor thin margins, saving energy makes a big difference.
That’s why PSE is launching its Small Business Energy Makeover contest on September 28, which will invest a total of $180,000 in four small local businesses. Each makeover will include $30,000 in energy efficiency upgrades and an additional $15,000 for needed cosmetic improvements.
PSE is encouraging customers to nominate their favorite local businesses – small business owners can enter themselves as well. Contest entries open on Monday, September 28 and close on Sunday, October 18. Contest entrants must be small businesses operating within Puget Sound Energy’s service area.
To nominate your favorite local business or learn more about the contest, click here. All nominated businesses will be eligible for a PSE energy assessment and everyone who nominates a business will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win one of five Nest smart thermostats.

The Down Under Gallery is hosting another socially distanced, and masked, Artist’s Reception in the Garden, this Friday, October 2nd, from 6p – 9p.
Our artist, Rick Carter, is an experienced artist but this is his first-ever show and we are so happy to be a part of his growth as an artist! He likes to share his crazy view of our crazy world through his art – and we all hope you will find your way to the Gallery to see his pieces this Friday or any time in October!
On Friday, we will host a carefully monitored and socially distanced Artist’s Reception for Rick Carter. Step Down Under for snacks, beverages and to meet the artist at this free, all ages First Friday Art Gathering. Visitors will be invited inside the clean and spacious Gallery in small groups or individually to see Carter’s works, glass by Rodman Miller, prints and jewelry from Scott Lantz, FiberArt and PhotoArt from Sarah Weathers of Vibrant Poppy and international photography by our curator, Adrian Laney.
We also invite any artists looking for an active and open Gallery to display their art in to stop by and speak with Laney, and see Carter’s show!
