It’s Walking Guide Season + the University in our Backyard

The Walking Guide is a reference map geared towards Fremont visitors. The 50,000 printed maps are distributed via the Hysterical Markers throughout Fremont, in area businesses, as mailers to visitors who contact the Chamber, through the Seattle Visitor Bureau and in downtown hotels. All Listings include your business name, address, phone and a 35-word description of your business. There is limited space in the WG – inclusion is on a first come, first serve basis.

The university in your backyard

Established in 1891, Seattle Pacific University is a longtime neighbor to the Fremont community. The Christian university is recognized by U.S. News & World Report magazine as the only private university in the Pacific Northwest to be named a “Best National University” for its full range of undergraduate majors (71), master’s and doctoral programs (39), and commitment to producing groundbreaking research.
Currently, more than 3,700 undergraduate and graduate students gain an education combining outstanding scholarship and thoughtful faith. In addition, SPU capitalizes on its setting by using Seattle as an urban classroom. Students can take advantage of a wide range of internships and learning opportunities at local world-renowned companies and industries. The University also owns two campuses in the San Juan Islands, where faculty and students conduct research in environmental and physical sciences.
Located just over the Fremont Bridge at 3rd Avenue West and West Nickerson Street on the north slope of Queen Anne Hill, the 40-acre campus is home to two cutting-edge science buildings, a four-story library and study center, restaurant-like dining facilities, and one of the region’s finest small theatres.
Yearly campus events open to the public include renowned national and international speakers, faculty lectures, some of Seattle’s most engaging theatre and music performances, and exciting (and affordable!) athletic competition at Royal Brougham Pavilion. President Daniel Martin is SPU’s 10th president in 128 years.
