Fremont Bridge
Fremont Bridge
Fremont Neighborhood Of Seattle, WA - Center Of The Universe.

Opened in 1917, the Fremont Bridge is a double-leaf drawbridge or bascule bridge over the Lake Washington Ship Canal connecting the neighborhoods of Fremont and Queen Anne. Due to its low vessel clearance of 30 feet (9.1 m), the Fremont Bridge is one of the most frequently opened drawbridges and the only bridge that voters in 1985 choose the colors of bright blue and orange.

“Each step, each lever turning and each button pressing must be done in a particular order at a particular time.  It takes 4 minutes, most times, between the signal light changes from red to green, to raise the bridge and let fishing vessels or luxury yachts go by.” Fremocentrist.com
