Panel Speakers Bios:

Suzie Burke is the President of Fremont Dock Company, which manages 65 acres of industrial and commercial property in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.  She is a highly active board member and fundraiser for many organizations, including Holy Names Academy, Wallingford Boys & Girls Club, Fremont Rotary, Seattle Police Foundation, St. Vincent De Paul and Seattle University.  Suzie has founded several community organizations, including History House, a non-profit organization she and her mother founded to celebrate Seattle neighborhoods and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce.  In 2002 she was awarded the Norm Hillis award from the University Sunrise Rotary Club and was named the Distinguished Alumna of Holy Names Academy. In 2016 she was named the Evening of Hope Honoree. Suzie came to work for her dad as the community lesion and she has centered her life around that mission to continue to make the Seattle area, focusing on the Fremont neighborhood, a great place to work and live.

With more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience, Sharon Coleman manages the development of commercial and biotechnology projects for Vulcan Real Estate’s South Lake Union portfolio. Sharon, who was one of its first employees, has played a critical role in the transformation of Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood into a vibrant economic engine and innovation hub that has become one of the most sought-after locations in the region for office and life sciences tenants. To date, Sharon has overseen the development of 5.4M SF in 19 office and biotech projects at Vulcan. These include Amazon’s 15-building corporate headquarters, the 900,000 SF University of Washington School of Medicine campus and 600,000 SF for Google (under construction). Sharon is known for taking a holistic approach to development. In addition to her expertise in site evaluation, project feasibility, design and construction of individual buildings, she is known for encouraging designs that include public spaces, plazas and artwork that encourage pedestrian activity. Her background includes a focused expertise in adaptive reuse of historic landmark structures, transportation and sustainability initiatives

Maria Barrientos has successfully managed the development of 45+ mixed use residential housing projects totaling over $1 billion worth of real estate development projects in Seattle. Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, leadership and problem-solving abilities enable Maria to successfully analyze challenging problems and work towards customized solutions. Maria spends considerable amounts of time as a volunteer in numerous community-based organizations, particularly Capitol HIll, Uptown, and the University District. Ms. Barrientos has been named of the most influential urban-infill developers in Seattle, a 2015 Puget Sound Journal “Women of Influence,” and is categorized by her peers as innovated, thoughtful and creative – creating housing that incorporates many forward looking trends. Maria has also been called a “solution-based” community developer by many. As a company, Barrientos Ryan has a unique niche in Seattle developing in the dense neighborhoods surround downtown. We strive to develop inspired places for people to live in.

Maiko Winkler-Chin is Executive Director of the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority (SCIDpda), whose mission is to preserve, promote and develop the Chinatown International District as a vibrant community and unique ethnic neighborhood. She has 20 years community and economic development experience including asset management, property management, real estate development and finance. Maiko has served on a variety of workgroups including the Housing Affordability and Livability Advisory Committee, Commercial Affordability Task Force, and Equitable Development Initiative Interim Advisory Board. She was a founding member of PSRC’s HUD Sustainable Communities Regional Equity Network, co-chaired the Urban Land Institute’s Center for Sustainable Leadership, Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies Affiliate Fellow, and is current Secretary (past president) of the National Coalition of Asian Pacific American Community Development board.

Eva Otto is the Owner and Broker at Infiniti Real Estate & Development and provides residential and commercial real estate services in the Greater Seattle area. Eva is a LEED Accredited Professional and an Ecobroker specializing in the green housing market. She earned her Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies from the Evergreen State College. Eva works with a diverse group of clients including traditional homebuyers & sellers, land buyers, green builders, developers, and commercial tenants. In addition to her passion for real estate, Eva runs a development company that envisions restoring the balance between human communities and the natural world.

Jackie CostiganSenior Vice President, Development, UNICO Properties Jackie’s 35-year career in construction started in the field and evolved when she began managing projects in the commercial, public, private and non-profit sectors for a small general contractor. She later joined one of Seattle’s largest general contractors where she served as Vice President and General Manager of the Special Project Division. In that role, Jackie honed her skills and deepened her understanding of an ever-changing industry. In 2010, Jackie founded Costigan Integrated with the vision of providing owners versatile and visionary counsel and project management throughout the development and construction management process. She believes that working collaboratively creates efficiency and enables all team members to do their best and most creative work. Notable projects include the Seattle Aquarium, KEXP, Pike Place Market and the Nature Conservancy’s offices.
