Office of Economic Development | Legacy Business Program
Nominations close 💖 February 14, 2020, applications due February 28, 2020.
The City of Seattle is committed to supporting a strong and resilient economy that generates economic opportunity and prosperity for all of Seattle’s diverse communities. Small, long-tenured businesses also known as legacy businesses are an important part of this vision.
To address commercial displacement and preserve the neighborhoods that Seattle residents cherish, the City’s Office of Economic Development (OED) has developed the Legacy Business pilot program that provides specialized support for long-standing, culturally relevant Seattle small businesses. In order to be considered for the Legacy Business Program, a business must meet the following criteria:
- Independently owned, for-profit business,
- Minimum of ten years of continuous operation in Seattle,
- Fewer than 50 employees, including the owner(s)
Do you know of a business that meets the criteria? Nominate them as a Legacy Business!

Fremont Arts Council’s Petit Troll is February 23rd!
We’re bringing our Petit Trolls to life! This tiny parade is done in the spirit of Mardi Gras! Sunday, February 23rd (just before Fat Tuesday), we will do a flash-mob-style procession, pulling our mini-glittering themed floats through the Fremont Sunday Market. Come find out how you can play with us!
The floats are small toy rolling bases made into shimmering, themed floats using recycled materials, glue guns and your imagination.
Come to the Powerhouse and make a float or decorate an umbrella.
The FAC hosts workshops to make and decorate floats on these days:
- Sunday February 16th, 1 to 4:30pm
- Saturday, February 22nd, 1 to 4:30pm
- To volunteer, learn more here. Don’t have time to volunteer? Donate to fill the green hat!
